Indian Beach is a small cozy community consisting mostly of vacation homes. At last count, there were about 60 permanent households.  A few descendents of the early settlers still live in Indian Beach; however this population is dwindling as the population of transplants continues to grow.

There is a NC Aquarium 2 miles away with programs and scheduled activities. While vacationing on these barrier islands, it’s highly encouraged that you take day trips to lighthouses and outer banks sight that you will not find anywhere else.  Some of America’s earliest settlers came ashore here. The history and folklore is worthy of the time it takes to do a little exploring.

Local restaurants specialize in fresh caught seafood, but provide choices for everyone. Any last minute needs are nearby in major chain stores, top line grocery stores, and emergency medical care without the big city, tourist center craziness.

Since it was incorporated in 1973, Indian Beach NC has slowly begun to attract more visitors each summer season. Surrounded by sun, sand, and a few lush maritime forests, Indian Beach rests on the island of Bogue Banks, a 21 mile barrier island off the coast of North Carolina. Located in the southern Outer Banks region, Indian Beach is one of North Carolina’s most beautiful and serene locations and offers the very best in rural, remote beach living, as most of the area remains privately owned and devoid of commercial businesses.

Discover paradise at Indian Beach. Families and friends have made it a yearly event to gather together and enjoy all that the Atlantic Ocean has to offer and not be distracted by glamour and glitter.
