The emerald island famous for its gorgeous greenery, legendary ales, beautiful castles and surround by serene ocean views is a must-see for all.  Many towns have been restored to their Gaelic glory.  If you stay at a house rental, you can drive to see famous and historic landmarks such as The Cliffs of Moher and the Blarney Castle, home to the Blarney Stone. Other fascinating attractions include the ancient Glendalough Monastic Settlement, and the Rock of Cashel a group of 12th century castles. While driving, you’ll see many signs written in Gaelic, Irish and English.  Ireland has many stunning house rentals at very reasonable prices. 

Northern Ireland castles galore, famous historic homes and beautiful country-sides.  If you travel to Donegal in the north, the best time to go is June through beginning of September. 

Search for vacation rentals and condo rentals in Galway so you can drive to see the sites. The Galway horse festival is in August and is a hugely exciting event.  Your trek to the southern Ireland should also include Ashford Castle.  Ashford Castle is where John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara stayed while filming the movie The Quiet Man in 1952. There’s also a museum nearby with loads of movie memorabilia. It's located in the Galway countryside and which has may great spots for fishing.

Dromoland Castle is beautiful and near Galway close to lots of entertainment and activities. Dublin is the capital city filled with great night life and many shops and attractions.  Whether you stay in a vacation rental by owner, or castle, your trip will surely be memorable.  Other great places are Cork, West Cork, and the South-East, which includes the mediaeval city of Kilkenny.  Of course, the Irish are famous for their ales and you’ll find many friendly pubs where you can learn the Irish jig. In Salthill, there are quite a few casinos and an aquarium. Connemara is a beautiful coastal town full of white sandy beaches, mountains and beautiful lakes.

If you plan on going to many counties, it is worth getting a car to be able to get to the more isolated places, as public buses don't go to many of these.  You can typically drive from one county to another in an hour or two.  The roads are narrower than in the U.S. and they drive on the left.
