The beach will be one of your favorite spots to be and we heartily recommend trying Poolenalena Beach or Keawakapu Beach. Here you’ll be able to swim, surf, and spend your days with no cares in the world. While relaxing you may see some endangered Hawaiian water birds or if you come in the winter you may even get to see many of the migratory birds! If you’re in the mood to see humpback whales, then you must check out the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary! This offers many exhibits from whale songs, to climate change, to native Hawaiian plants and culture and is a must see for anyone who loves these gentle giants.
Any trip to Hawaii would be incomplete without a snorkeling experience! 2.5 miles off the coast is a must-see location that you will need to be underwater to experience: the Molokini Crater. Named one of the top ten diving spots in the world, there is so much to see under the waves. From colorful fish, manta rays, sea turtles, to eels there are over 250 species of fish that can be found here that aren’t found anywhere else! If you are looking to explore above the waves, then you should try your hand at surfing or stand up paddle boarding. If you haven’t learned how to do either, then Kihei is the perfect spot to learn as the environment is typically calmer and much more predictable!
If you plan your trip towards the end of the month, then you are most certainly in for a treat! On the fourth Friday of every month is the Kihei Fourth Friday Town Party! This party offers live music, dancing, food trucks with out-of-this-world food, and a Keiki Youth Zone that your kids will love! But if you can’t come at that time of the month, then you will still love your trip here!
