If you want to take a step back in time, you can head to the Old Koloa Town and learn about the city’s heritage in the Koloa History Center! After that you can go out and peruse the old-fashioned storefronts or the local giftshops. You must check out the island-style Lappert’s ice cream, a Kauai special served fresh and daily! Finally, once you are done exploring the city you can take the Koloa heritage Trails. These trails will take you by 14 historical and geological sites and will take you from Old Koloa Town to Poipu.
If you seek views like no other, then you should go to the Spouting Horns blowhole. This is the one of the most photographed spots on Kauai. Here you’ll see spouts of water launched up to 50 feet in the air! A sight that you will have to see to believe. If you feel like delving into a cave, then you should check out Makauwahi Cave Reserve. This cave is Hawaii’s largest limestone cave and fossil site. Originally popular for archaeological interests but now it’s a tourist destination. You will find over 100 native plants and many endangered waterbirds.
