Lago Vista, Texas Vacation Rentals

About Lago Vista, Texas

Nestled in the curve of the Colorado River, or should I say the former Colorado River, lies Lago Vista. With the construction of dams along the river back in the1930s the Colorado became a controlled water source; where Lago Vista is located has become Lake Travis.

Lago Vista is conveniently located 40 minutes more or less from downtown Austin, which makes it convenient for residents of the capital city to visit for day trips, weekend jaunts or lengthy vacations and enjoy the small town atmosphere of Lago Vista and her sister cities.

Lago Vista, along with Jonestown and Point Venture, make up the North Shore of Lake Travis. These quaint villages make up a thriving triad of communities, and within these cities everything  from large regional brick and mortar chain stores to dozens of small locally owned businesses can be found.

Lake Travis is considered to be the crown jewel of the central Texas highland lakes; it is a big, beautiful lake. The lake is 63.75 miles long with over 271 miles of shoreline and a maximum width of 4.5 miles. The lake covers 18,929 acres. Lake Travis is one of the most visited recreational vacation destinations in the state. Lake Travis has a limestone lake floor, and because of the reaction limestone has with water, it results in a very unique crystal clear blue waters. For boating enthusiasts, Lake Travis has many marinas for launching and docking your boat. If you prefer something more strenuous, stand-up paddleboard, boogie board, kayak, and canoe are waiting for you.

If you're an avid boater, Lago Vista homes are perfectly set up for your nautical lifestyle. Residences along the water give you direct access to Lake Travis' north shore. Private boat dockage takes away the hassle of marina fees, and allows you to sail away on a whim.

Now, here’s a twist that isn’t written about very often; nude bathing. Yes, you read right. There is a beach near Lago Vista that offers a beach where you can go and take off all of your clothes, and skinny dip. So, when you pick up the key to your vacation destination, ask the front desk manager about Hippie Hollow, he is sure to know how to get there. Hippie Hollow is the only clothing-optional public park in Texas. With its rocky shoreline, ample hiking trails, and amazing views of Lake Travis, this is a charming basin for sunbathing and swimming - with or without suits

Although a popular tourist destiny sometimes loses its specialness, many of Lago Vista's charms remain including its small-town atmosphere and private lakeside amenities, all set to Texas Hill Country scenery.

Lago Vista, Texas is a gorgeous little town, and worthy of visit. Come see for yourself.
