Big Beach is your family friendly beach with a lifeguard, so you don’t need to worry about what your children are doing while you are catching some rays! It’s also extremely popular with food concessions and picnic areas making it easy to spend an entire day here! This idyllic little beach is located between two black-lava outcroppings making it a beach experience like no other! Nearby is Little Beach, but this one is not as family friendly as Big Beach. This beach does not have a lifeguard and is often used regarded as a nude beach.
Both beaches are within Makena State Park, which you can explore and feel how the Hawaii of old was once you’re done swimming around. You’ll need to bring everything you want for this adventure as there is nothing here except trash containers, restrooms and a parking lot.
