Shenandoah National Park is a vast area that requires special preparation for your stay here. You’ll need to plan out your trip with a map and bring several snacks and water for your stay here as there’s so much to explore, but it’s also easy to get lost. But once you plan it out, it will be well worth the preparation. There’s so much to see here like cascading waterfalls, wooded hollows, and beautiful vistas! There is also so much wildlife here like deer and bears. It is recommended that you learn about bear safety such as maintaining a safe distance, travelling in groups, and properly storing food. With 200,000 acres of protected land, there is so much for you to explore!
Town of Shenandoah
The town itself is right on South Fork Shenandoah River. Here you can try your hand at fishing or kayaking and canoeing if you’ve the right equipment. Usually the river is fairly quiet too, so your experience here will be fairly relaxing. The town is quiet and friendly and will offer your basic necessities with a few welcoming diners. There’s also a town park called Big Gem Park where you may take your kids for an afternoon.
