About Tuckasegee, North Carolina

Tuckasegee, North Carolina is one of several unincorporated communities in Jackson County. Tuckasegee is named after the two rivers that converge here, along with several other tributaries. Did I mention it back up in the hills? Well, it’s back up in the hills.

This picturesque village is home to rolling mountain farm land, excellent fishing along the Tuckaseigee River, and a wonderful break from fast food restaurants and big box stores. Commerce here includes a handful of gas stations, old fashioned general stores, trading posts and a lifestyle reminiscent of a long ago time, a place where everyone knows their neighbors.

Although getting to and from Tuckasegee passes through remoteness, life isn't all down home and homespun. Tuckasegee is home to world-class Bear Lake Resort, a gated community that attracts part-time residents and visitors from all over the world. Tuckasegee is also home to three of Jackson County's prettiest mountain lakes, Bear, Wolf, and Cedar Cliff Lakes, each surrounded by lavish homes, outstanding fishing boating opportunities. East LaPorte Park is also popular gathering spot for picnics, family reunions and just hanging out on the river.

If you’re looking for a vacation destination that is like stepping back in time, Tuckasegee is the perfect spot. True, it’s not right around the corner, but, that’s the point, right?
