Way up on the northern end of Michigan is a quaint little town by the name of Boyne City.  It is off the beaten path and a vacation destination, but, believe it when I tell you it’s worth the trip. Boyne City is nestled up against the waters of Lake Charlevoix and has been honored to be listed as one of USA Today’s Best Lakes in America.

From the moment you arrive, you will see why the locals claim that Boyne City is where life meets the lake. Lake Charlevoix is what makes Boyne City so popular. The two are intertwined until they are in harmony. You’re never more than a few minutes from its sparkling water and all it offers.

Boyne City is located on the east arm of Lake Charlevoix and has many, many unique specialty shops, art galleries that feature local artists as well as delicious dining choices along the shoreline; all are awaiting your arrival. Downtown Boyne City is worth a visit if you’re hungry. The list of restaurants and eateries is long and varied. There are more than 20 eating establishments in and around Boyne City, all offering a large assortment of cuisines. Be it fine dining or fast food, Boyne City has it. There is always something to do; no matter the season, there is always something special happening.

Usually you can find musicians strolling the streets, art festivals, or being named the Best Main Street Community in Michigan, you’ll enjoy every minute of your stay in Boyne City. Likewise, there is a plethora of activities and events available that keep vacationers coming to Boyne City year round. Outdoor enthusiasts flock to Boyne City to take advantage of all of them including snowmobiling and skiing.  Winter is particularly exciting because Boyne Mountain and its 60 downhill ski runs are only 10 minutes from the city limits.  Tubing is available on Boyne Mountain and fantastic cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails can be found not only at Boyne Mountain, but also in Boyne City.

Springtime brings visitors looking for the elusive morel mushroom. They come to celebrate the annual Morel Mushroom Festival each spring and take part in the competitive sport of mushroom hunting around the area’s forests. One of the most famous attractions in Boyne City is this festival which is held every May. Morel mushroom hunters from around the country come in search of these gourmet delicacies.

The River Walk runs along the Boyne River and is inviting to visitors looking to slow down and relax. Take a casual stroll along the river or throw in a fishing line and sit still for a little while. There are also several festivals that take place in Boyne City throughout the year; all of which reflect the community spirit and pride that make this small town such a gem

From a leisurely afternoon on the Boyne River, to the beauty of watching a sailboat catch a summer breeze, to the roar of a high-performance boat participating in the Boyne Thunder event, anything having to do with fun on the water is found in and around Boyne City.
