Covenants they left behind continue to shape the character of the town. The town was developed and remains sensitive to the surrounding environment. The natives to Pine Knoll Shores are acutely aware of the environment and ecology, and work hard to ensure its preservation. The ocean dunes and the maritime forests located along the bank are well protected. The exceptional efforts of the community, with their environmentally focused perspective, have allowed much of the area today to remain unspoiled and pristine. As a reward for these efforts, Pine Knoll Shores has been designated a “Tree City USA.”
Pine Knoll Shores is at the central most point of the Bogue Banks, and offers an unforgettable experience to vacationers and tourists. The residential community of Pine Knoll Shores spans nearly two square miles. This barrier island is surrounded by the bustling Atlantic Beach, Indian Beach, the Bogue Sound and the Atlantic Ocean.
