While many industrial cities gave up and gave in to declining economies over the past few decades, Pittsburgh, Pa. rose to the occasion and became a shining example of ingenuity and perseverance. T his is one rust belt town that's gotten a polish. After decades of losing jobs and residents, Pittsburgh has become a standard-bearer for urban revitalization. Steeped in spirit and flavor, Pittsburgh can lay claim to being one of our nation's most underrated cities, with a beauty as breathtaking as it is obvious. Visitors come from far and wide to enjoy what Pittsburgh has to offer.
There was a time in the not too distant past when Pittsburgh was the leading steel manufacturer of the world. The city was covered in soot and smog and appeared to be in the throes of a painful death, but no more. Today’s Pittsburgh is a metropolis with fine parks and gardens flanking the rivers and a modern city center with established cultural institutions such as the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and the Pittsburgh Opera. If you stand atop Mount Washington and overlook the Pittsburgh skyline you won’t see smog or pollution or anything that detracts from the view. By the way, Mount Washington is the best place to go for a panoramic view of Pittsburgh and the three rivers. This is somewhere you must go if you’re visiting Pittsburgh. No trip is complete without a visit to Mount Washington!
Pittsburgh, Pa is more than you might expect! Professional sports (Go Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins) are a huge draw. If you’re a fan of these teams or a fan of the rival teams, take an extra day or 12 and visit all that Pittsburgh has to offer. Museums, theme parks, water parks; the list of activities goes on. Remember that Pittsburgh was voted one of the “Top 15 Places to Go” in 2015 by National Geographic. That’s not an award that’s given lightly.
So, anyway, come to Pittsburgh and sample our treasure trove of activites. Once tourists spend a few days with us they always return. You will too!!
