At Porta Azul a stone-paved path through tall agave leads to a contemporary four-bedroom in Los Limones, art on the walls in every room. Four bedrooms sleep eight, with an included cook handling all the meals. The fit: a couple with an eye for contemporary art who want a walkable beach week, a family who came for the gallery walls and the pool, or two couples on a long weekend who chose Los Limones over the noisier sea-facing villas.
Mornings go to Minitas — a short walk through the resort to the sand. The pool runs along a travertine deck, the covered gazebo a few steps off for lunch and dinner under the ceiling fan. The main salon opens through floor-to-ceiling glass that folds back to the pool deck. A wall-scale abstract above the sofa anchors the room. The upper terrace stays in the shade for the morning drink and the sundown one.
Porta Azul sits in Los Limones, the residential pocket closest to Minitas Beach. The beach is a short walk through the resort for the daily swim. Teeth of the Dog — ranked the Caribbean's top course by the World Golf Awards — and The Links are a short cart ride up the road for the round. The Marina is a similar ride for the dressier evening out. Book Porta Azul when the trip is built around walkable beach days and a contemporary villa with art on every wall, not a sea-facing villa with the same view from every room.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Is the art collection at Porta Azul permanent, and how does it shape the villa?
Yes — the art collection is part of the property and stays in place for every stay. The foyer opens onto a three-panel cobalt-blue triptych above an organic wood-root table. The main salon is anchored by a wall-scale abstract that runs nearly floor to ceiling. The dining room sits beneath a black wire pendant. Each bedroom carries its own original artwork in a different palette. Guests notice it from the door — Porta Azul reads as a curated villa rather than a standard rental.
Q: How easy is it to get to Minitas Beach from Porta Azul?
Minitas is a short walk or cart ride from the villa, with the path running through the resort to the sand. The walk is a few minutes on foot, easy to do with a towel or to take the cart with the cooler. At Minitas, chairs, loungers, and watersports are waiting on the sand, and the beach club kitchen runs lunch service through your resort registration. Porta Azul sits in Los Limones, one of the closest pockets in the resort to the beach.
Q: How accessible is golf from Porta Azul?
Teeth of the Dog — ranked the Caribbean's top course by the World Golf Awards — and The Links are a short cart ride up the road from Porta Azul, with tee times arranged through our concierge and green fees paid at the Pro Shop on arrival. Dye Fore is a slightly longer drive across the resort to the cliffs above the Chavón River. The Equestrian Center is at the same distance for a ride if someone wants to switch from clubs to a saddle.
Q: What's included in the nightly rate at Porta Azul, and what's billed separately?
The nightly rate covers the villa, the housekeeper, and the cook. Food and beverages, golf cart and car rental, baby equipment, airport transfers, and pre-stocking are arranged through our concierge and billed separately. The 18% service fee and the Casa de Campo Resort registration fee — US$30 per adult per night, US$15 per child age 4–12 — are added at the end. Resort registration covers the three golf courses, the Fitness Center, restaurants, loungers and towels at the main hotel pool and at Minitas Beach, and the medical center at Central Romana.
