Step through the front door at Villa Volcán and a single palm tree stands inside the house, growing out of a square pool of green tile under an open skylight. Set on one level in El Ingenio, the villa sits at the edge of a wide fairway, with mature palms framing the lawn. Five bedrooms sleep ten, and the included cook handles all the meals.
Mornings start with drinks at the long table while the kids disappear into their own bunk-room wing. The indoor courtyard sits in the middle of the house, and the woman's portrait on the back wall is the first piece of the art collection you notice. By midday everyone splits between the pool, the lawn, and the covered outdoor kitchen where someone is grilling lunch. By afternoon someone's in the hammock on the primary terrace, and the kids are back in their lounge with a movie. At dinner the long table seats ten without anyone needing to move rooms.
Minitas Beach, the Marina, and the Racquet Center are each a short cart ride away, with Teeth of the Dog — ranked the Caribbean's top course by the World Golf Awards — and The Links a little further on. Altos de Chavón and Dye Fore sit just across the river. Villa Volcán is the villa to book when the family wants a base with personality, the kids a wing of their own, and someone else handling the meals.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Can Villa Volcán host a family-and-friends group of ten without anyone feeling crammed?
The villa sleeps ten across five bedrooms, all on one level. The primary suite has its own enclosed terrace, private office, and outdoor jacuzzi at the back of the house. The kids' wing has a bunk room and a separate lounge with bean bags and a hanging chair. The great room, dining table, and outdoor terrace all comfortably hold the full group at once, with enough quiet corners that any one person can step away.
Q: Is Villa Volcán a good fit for families with younger kids?
It's set up for them. The villa is all on one level, which helps with toddlers and tired feet. There's a dedicated kids' bunk room plus a separate kids' lounge with pink fur bean bags and a hanging rattan egg chair, both opening to the garden. The family TV room sits off the main wing for late-afternoon downtime, and the cook accommodates kid-friendly meals on request. Cribs, high chairs, and other baby gear can be arranged through the concierge.
Q: Can the villa host a private dinner or party for the full group?
Yes. The long indoor dining table seats ten in woven barrel chairs, and the covered outdoor terrace adds a second table plus a BBQ kitchen for grilling. Both spaces open out to the pool and the fairway view. For larger evenings, the concierge can arrange additional waitstaff and a bartender; the villa's open layout lets guests circulate between the great room, the courtyard, and the terrace without anyone feeling pinned to one zone.
Q: What is the indoor courtyard with the palm tree, and how does the art collection work?
The courtyard is the villa's centerpiece — a square reflecting pool of green tile set into the middle of the house, with a mature palm tree rising from its center under an open skylight. The space is partly open to the sky, so natural light and a soft breeze run through the home all day. The art collection's anchor sits here too, where a striking female portrait holds the back wall. Bolder pieces hang in the great room, the dining hall, and the family TV den.
